The dynamic design team better known as Vilsbøl de Arce take on proportion, seemingly inflated swimwear and performance art costuming.  Read the article here.

A CATWALK OF SORTS

One of the highlights of Copenhagen’s fashion week was Vilsbøl de Arce’s fashion show, ‘ A Catwalk of Sorts´ in Kødbyen (Copenhagen’s old meat packing district).  JDS designed the installation, the music was live by  Sophia Maj,  and the show was a great success.  Enjoy some of the photos from the show!

THE EGG,THE MONK & THE WORRIOR

THE EGG,THE MONK & THE WARRIOR by VISBØL DE ARCE.

The duo Pricasa Visbøl and Pia de Arce collaborated with a composer and a choreographer to create an entirely tailor-made performance.

Strictly from the idea of a ribbon or a stroke of a pen, they composed 5 creatures… each piece being twisted, turned and sculpted out of that one band of cloth, thus creating visual interpretations of the beings.

Incidentally, the costume became an initiating part of the process instead of the mere interpretation or decoration of the concept.

Everything in the performance was tailor made on the original concept of the path of cloth – designer, choreographer and composer interacting constantly during the creative process – and the obvious synergy between the three art-forms is there to show for it.

The outcome is a performance and a dialogue between the static of objects and the dynamics of movement – a choreographed relationship of clothing, in essence static, to the human body, in perpetual movement.
