The competition will be submitted 16th of September.
STAVANGER HOTEL OPEN TO PUBLIC
The Two Seasons Hotel project in Stavanger, Norway is now complete and had a grand opening the 12th of August, 2010. The hotel run by Choice Hotels Scandinavia AS has been named Comfort Hotel Square and is located in Stavanger City at what has been classified as the most valuable site in Norway. The 6 floor hotel was built on top of a 5 floor existing parking garage giving an extra challenge to the structure. Here 194 hotel rooms float in a ribbon configuration around an inner courtyard. The hotel rooms have been lifted from the street to secure privacy and a quiet environment for the guests, and to activate the ground floor with a bar, lounge, restaurant and lobby. On top there is a green roof including a roof terrace with a beautiful view over Stavanger city and the harbour.
HOLMENKOLLEN SKI JUMP MOVES TO FINAL CONSTRUCTION PHASE
Holmenkollen Ski Jump will start the final phase in the autumn of 2010 to be scheduled for completion on March 2011. After a final vote form the city council this summer, the last piece of facade in front of the Judge tower and the Royal tribune has been finalized. JDS Architects will work together with Lecor/Varla/Flygfältsbyrån to finish the inner windscreen and facade before the World Championship 2011.The finished ski jump will have a bar at 418 meters above sea level so visitors can get the experience of looking down the in-run. At the top of the 69 meter inclined-cantilever tower, a 110 m2 plateau will reveal an amazing view over Oslo and its fjords.
STAVANGER HOTEL OPENS TODAY
Comfort Hotel Square on Løkkeveien in Stavanger, Norway receive their first guests today.
The hotel is located along a busy street in the Stavanger city center, with 194 rooms floating in a ribbon configuration above an existing parking garage. By lifting the hotel rooms from the street level, we are able to secure privacy and reduce the noise for the visitors. It also allows us to create a living ground floor in connection with the lobby that is activated by shops, a restaurant and cafe. The dynamic form of the ribbon concept allows us to mediate a potentially problematic site. With great differences in height between the four corners of the site, the hotel can hover closest to the ground level when adjacent to the old Stavanger neighbourhood and then lift dramatically to address a nine story apartment tower.

FIS WORLD CUP NORDIC OSLO 2010
This weekend, on the 13th and 14th of March, the International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup Nordic will be held at Holmenkollen with over 30,000 people expected to attend. The jump is to be held as a trial test before the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships next year in Oslo, 24th of February – 6th March 2011.
On the 3rd of February, the International Ski Federation (FIS) certified the New Holmenkollen Fyr (HS134) that the facility passed all technical and safety standards required for international ski jumping competitions.
Though the ski jump is not fully completed, plans are being met and carried through as scheduled. On the 3rd of March, Annette Sagen became the first official ski jumper to jump 106.5 meters during the opening ceremony of the Skijump, which set a new Holmenkollen jump record. From the 20 ski jumpers taking part of the opening ceremony, Rune Vetla, a local ski jumper had the longest jump at 141 meters, breaking and currently holding the record at Holmenkollen!
After this weekend’s event, JDS Architects will continue the remaining work on the completion plans until 2011. At the end of 2010, visitors can enjoy a bar at 418 meters above sea level and get the experience of looking down the in-run like a ski jumper. At the top of the of the 69 meter inclined-cantilever tower, a 110m2 plateau will reveal an amazing view over the city of Oslo and its fjords.
TWO SEASONS HOTEL UNDER CONSTRUCTION
The Two Seasons Hotel project is currently underway in Stavanger, Norway. It is scheduled to be completed by the end of this summer.
The project is located along a busy street in the Stavanger City center. Two hundred and fifty rooms float in a ribbon configuration above an existing parking garage. Lifting the hotel rooms from the street front enables us to secure privacy and quiet for the visitor and create a living ground floor activated by shops, a restaurant and cafe, as well as the lobby. The ribbon mediates a potentially problematic context by hovering closest to the ground adjacent to an old Stavanger neighborhood and by lifting dramatically when facing a nine story apartment tower.
